Youth Symphony Fall 2018 Concert

  • Vittorio Monti: Czardas (soloist Xander Lee, age 13, violin)
  • Franz Schubert: Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished Symphony)
  • Ralph Vaughan Williams: The Wasps Overture
  • Sarang Kim: Concerto for Korean Instruments (World premiere of a commissioned piece!)
  • Edward Elgar: Nimrod, from Enigma Variations
  • Georges Bizet: L’Arlésienne Suite No. 2

Students from throughout Santa Cruz County will attend these concerts for free

Youth Symphony Spring 2019 Concert

Free admission for students 18 and younger; $5 for students 19 to 24 (no tickets required)
Adults $15, Seniors $10, available online or at the door

Program:

  • Frederick Delius: The Walk to the Paradise Garden
  • Ron Miller: Aurora Australis for Orchestra and Didgeridoo
  • W. A. Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A major, 1st movement (Eli Gilbert, soloist)
  • Jean Sibelius: Karelia Overture
  • Igor Stravinsky: Dance Infernale and Berceuse and Finale from the Firebird Suite

Chamber Music Academy Performances

CMA Concert One

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 125 Canterbury Drive, Aptos

  • Music by Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Jacques Ibert, and more
  • Ensembles include a string quartet, a string trio, a piano trio, and a woodwind trio
  • A reception after the concert
  • Free admission

CMA Concert Two
Saturday, May 18, 2019, 3 p.m.
St. John’s Episcopal Church, 125 Canterbury Drive, Aptos

  • Music by Mendelssohn, Boccherini, Jeremy Cohen, Hellmesberger, Mozart and Corelli
  • Ensembles include a string quartet, a string trio, a piano trio, and a woodwind trio
  • A reception after the concert
  • Free admission

The Fourtes
CMA’s violin quartet, The Fourtes, will also perform at the Youth Symphony’s concerts in November and May (details above)
