Musicians auditioning for the Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony should be prepared to perform the following:
- A major scale of up to three sharps or three flats selected by the conductor (up to 3 octaves for strings and 2 octaves for winds and brass).
- A prepared piece or etude no longer than three minutes in length.
- Sight reading of one or more short musical segments selected by the conductor.
